Le Balloon Rouge - Alternative Movie Poster
23 x 16" Fine Art Giclée Print

I have always been aware of the short film The Red Balloon, I knew the famous scenes but I never actually sat down and watched. I have always wanted to create an amp for this wonderful short so I found time to watch it in full. I was amazed, captivated, brought back to a time of child like wonder that I have lost with age.
Written & directed by Albert Lamorisse in 1956 the film tells the story of a misfit Parisian boy, a lonely red balloon who befriend each other and the adventures they have together. I was touched by many themes in the film but the one that really made an impact was when the boy and balloon wanted to get on a tram but the conductor refused them both. The camera pulls in close for a time on the young boys face and he is perplexed he doesn't understand why others are allowed on the tram but he and his balloon are not. This really struck me, how society misunderstands people that are different, that don't fit into their tight parameters of what and how everyone should be. So I decided to make this the main focus of my poster.
Take 30min and experience this wonderful film for yourself.
